Types of TOEFL
The TOEFL iBT
The TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT) tests all four language skills that are important for effective communication: reading, listening, speaking, and writing. The test helps students demonstrate that they have the English skills needed for success. The TOEFL iBT also emphasizes integrated skills and provides better information to institutions about students' ability to communicate in an academic setting and their readiness for academic coursework.
The test has four sections:
Reading measures the ability to understand academic reading material.
Listening measures the ability to understand spoken English as it is used in colleges and universities.
Speaking measures the ability to speak English in an academic context.
Writing measures the ability to write in a way that is appropriate for college and university course work.

The TOEFL computer-based test (CBT) had four sections:

Structure measured the ability to recognize language that is appropriate for standard written English.
Reading measured the ability to understand short passages similar in topic and style to academic texts used in North American colleges and universities.
Writing measured the ability to write in English on an assigned topic.
TOEFL CBT scores are valid for two years from the administration date. During this period you can send your TOEFL CBT score report to the institutions of your choice.
